Sydney-based GJ Wholesale warned its products bought in bottle shops around Queensland, New South Wales and the ACT should be returned, due to potential chemical contamination.
The company's "Los Cabos Tequila" was in June the subject of an ABC report, which revealed Mexican authorities were suspicious about the brand.
Mexico's Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CRT) which regulates the spirt, said it was "not linked" to the industry.
The NSW Food Authority (NSWFA) launched an investigation into several brands of alcohol after the ABC's report.
"Consumers should not consume these products and should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund."
The affected GJ Brands include Verushka Vodka, Mississippi Bourbon, Los Cabos Tequila, Yachtsman White Rum, Mudgee Rum, Barman's Choice Whiskey, Hunter Brandy and Her Choice Gin.
While tequila must originate in Mexico, the label on Los Cabos proclaims it is a "Product of Australia" and continues: "Supplied to and bottled in Australia for GJ Wholesale".
Esau Garza from ProMexico — the Trade Commission of Mexico in Australia — said he was pleased about the recall.
There is also a range of non-alcoholic cordials on the market called "Barman's Choice", produced by a different company called Steinbok.
"I'm shocked, horrified and disgusted that our Trademarked Barman's Choice cordial brand may have been misrepresented in the market, our Barman's Choice product range is purely non-alcoholic cordials," he said.
